I love it when Vince Carter smiles, Chauncey Billups smirks, and the way Tim Duncan pouts after he doesn't get a call.
I crave for Bill Simmons' columns, Jacky Cheung's voice, Peel cigarettes, warm sunny afternoons, sleeping in, good old- fashion gossips, hot showers, coke with lots of ice, chicken (any style), and your eyes on me.

Guess who is the presumptious NBA star?

"I feel I am the #1 leader on this (USA basketball) team"

Here is the full Team USA roster:

Kidd, Marion, Brad Miller, Mike Miller, Adam Morrison, Greg Oden, Lamar Odom, Chris Paul, Paul Pierce, Tayshaun Prince, JJ Reddick, Michael Redd, Luke Ridnour, Amare, Wade, Deron Williams, Carmelo, Gilbery Arenas, Shane Battier, Chauncey, Boozer, Bosh, Bowen, Elton Brand, Kobe, Tyson Chandler, Hinrich, Kevin Durant, Dwight Howard, Lebron, Joe Johnson and Antwan Jamison…

(Scary, I actually almost managed to type the full roster without verifying)

A: It's Mr. "I chew my nails on the sideline and got swept in the 2007 Finals"

Breaking down of the CV vs TJ trade

The Pros:

Every year there are more and more talented PFs coming out of the draft, in fact, someone pointed out to me that next year like 70% of the lottery picks will likely be...PFs. So, there's no shortage of talented PFs. SFs are also in high supply. Whereas with PGs and Cs, they are not in high supply. In short, Charlie is probably more easily replaceable, even though value wise right now he was higher than TJ in my opinion.

TJ Ford has shown gradual if not spectacular improvement in his game every year. Right now he's up to about 12 ppg and 6 apg. This is not awe inspiring, but there's no reason to think he can't mature up to 15 ppg and 7-8 apg in his prime. Whether he hits his prime here, we don't know. But the possibility is there. And that wouldn't be bad.

The cons:

TJ is 5'10, injury prone, jumpshot-less and we'll have to worry about his extension much earlier than Charlie now. As Teddd said, when was the last time a 5'10 guard became a star? And don't say, "Well, Isiah and AI are shorter than their listed heights..." Yes, and this means TJ could be even shorter than 5'10 going by that logic.

Injury prone. IMO, this is the what really kills it for me. If he lands the wrong way it's good luck and good night.

No jumpshot. Traditionally, short guys have always had a tough time shooting over people at a high %. This is why he may never be a great jumpshooter. Doesn't help that he's shown zero improvement since his first year.

Extension. Now we have to worry about extending him if we want to keep him, much earlier than with Charlie.

Upside--ceiling--Personally, I think TJ's upside is lower than Charlie's because there are things he cannot overcome, such as height. There are so many things Charlie COULD do--he may not, but the upside to become significantly better than 13 and 6 is there. TJ's prime stats may not ever deviate much higher than 13 and 6, so the ceiling is there.

Vince Carter

Chauncey Billups
